Tracey Rush (1955-     )

Tracey Rush, composerTracey Rush was recently declared “One of the Most Influential Musicians in the Tri-States” by the Dubuque Telegraph Herald. Her works have been performed all over the United States in concerts and at festivals, including the Naples (FL) Philharmonic, the Knoxville Symphony, and the Pittsburgh Symphony. She has been commissioned by numerous schools and professional ensembles. In 2008, she conducted her “Fantasia in F” at Carnegie Hall. A native of Milwaukee, Rush has a BS in music education from Bob Jones University and her MME from the University of Northern Iowa.  Former principal violist of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, she teaches strings for the Dubuque Community School District. She founded and directs the Dubuque Community String Orchestra and is currently the executive director of the Northeast Iowa School of Music in Dubuque, Iowa, which she founded in 2001. She served a four-year stint as chair of the Iowa Composers Forum and will be presenting a Composition Pedagogue workshop for the Junior Composers at the University of Minnesota July 2010.
