Alexandros Mouzas (1962- )
Greek
composer Alexandros Mouzas studied composition with Theodoros Antoniou,
advanced theory with Haris Xanthoudakis and electronic music with
Dimitris Kamarotos. He has composed for various ensembles and has
received commissions from organizations and orchestras. He has also
collaborated with choreographer Konstantinos Michos and the ‘Lathos
Kinissi’ dance group. Mouzas’ most important compositions to date
include the ballet Trisha Never Left Home (1999) and Struwwelpeter (2004), both commissioned by the Athens Concert Hall, along
with Innerscape (2007), which was given its
première performance by the Athens State Orchestra. Mouzas is active in
image-related music. He has written original music for short films,
television series, documentaries and commercials for all Greek
television channels. He was artistic director of the Greek Section of
the European programme New Media Edge Project (2003). He collaborated
with the Organizing Committee of the 2004 Athens Olympics, writing
original music for corporate videos of the Games. Mouzas teaches Music
Technology and Film Scoring in top schools in Athens. In recent years,
he has acted as production manager in many important CD releases of
Greek orchestral music. Since 1998, he has been a member of the Board
of Directors of the Greek Composers’ Union.- Naxos Recordings
