Jakub Ciupinski (1981-    )

Jakub Ciupinski, composerPolish composer Jakub Ciupinski has studied with Zbigniew Bujarski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Edwin Roxbrough, Joe Cutler and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Christopher Rouse at The Juilliard School in New York.  While he writes chamber and symphonic concert music - including his Oratorio for the Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust for symphony orchestra and two choirs, premiered in Cracow in 2003 - his stylistic influences run across many genres. In his Suita for orchestra and electronics, symphonic tradition is fused with elements of beat-based electronica and IDM. He has collaborated with a variety of artists, musicians, choreographers and film directors, including Oscar winning director Andrzej Wajda, and at the age of 18 he signed a contract with Sony Music Poland. His electronica-infused world music has been frequently played on Polish radio and aired on music channels such as MTV and VIVA. His works have been performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as in Canada, the Czech Republic, England, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Scotland, Switzerland, Ukraine and the U.S.  He is currently living and composing in New York.
