Svitlana Azarova (1976- )
Svitlana
Azarova graduated in 1996 from Izmail Pedagogical Institute in Ukraine.
From 1996-1997 she attended international summer master-classes held by
such known composers as Marek Kopelent, Luis de Pablo, Paul Mefano,
Jean-Ives Busser and Zygmunt Krauze (Czech Republic). In 2000 she
graduated as a composer from Odessa State A.V.Nezhdanova Conservatoire
(now Odessa State A.V.Nezhdanova Musical Academy) under Prof. Karmella
Tsepkolenko. In the same year Azarova attended master-classes held by
Faraj Karaev and Krzystof Meyer in Azerbaijan. In 2003 she was a
participant at the six months long scholarship program of the Ministry
Culture of Republic Poland (Gaude Polonia) at the Frédéric Chopin
Academy of Music in Warsaw with professor Marcin Blazewicz. In 2005 she
was elected to participate with a grant from the society KulturKontakt
Austria in the 9th International Academy for New Composition and
Audio-Art, Avantgarde Tirol with Professor Boguslaw Schaeffer and Dr.
Richard Boulanger (Seefeld, Austria). In 2007 she graduated MMus
Composition with Theo Loevendie at the Amsterdam Conservatorium (The
Netherlands). In the words of Frans Waltmans, "Azarova's
music is highly inspired by spiritual and philosophical issues.
Sometimes a picture or an incident can inspire her to write a
composition. Her pieces are imbued with slavic soul composed in western
contemporary fashion. Although rarely minimalistic, Svitlana believes
that music allows for the best meditation."- Donemus
